The modeling question
Home advantage is a proposed adjustment for playing at a team’s usual home venue. The practical modeling question is whether a venue feature improves forecasts beyond what team strengths already explain.
An explicit assumption
In an illustrative scoring model, a home adjustment can raise the home scoring rate or shift a team-strength difference. Its magnitude must be learned from an appropriate historical sample. NinetyQuant does not publish an estimated real-world home-advantage coefficient in v0.1.
A planned experiment
Compare a baseline without venue adjustment to a version with it, using identical training and test matches. Evaluate the future test set with the same Brier and log-loss conventions. Separate neutral venues and avoid treating missing venue data as a confirmed home setting.
Limitations
Travel, crowd, tactics and team selection are different possible mechanisms. A predictive association alone does not identify which one caused the result. NQ’s current demo uses example venues only; it is not evidence for a contemporary league-level effect.
